Trademark registration
Trademark registration protects a brand name, logo, or tagline so nobody else can register or trade under it. Rapidfiling checks for conflicting marks first, then prepares and files the application with the Trade Marks Registry.

Service overview
A trademark application travels a defined path under the Trade Marks Act, 1999: filing, examination by the Registry, a response window if the examiner raises objections, journal publication for opposition, and registration. The examination and opposition stages mean the timeline is not in anyone's hands, the Registry's docket sets the pace, and a clean application with a proper pre-filing search is the main thing an applicant controls.
The search matters more than most applicants expect. Marks are filed in one or more of the forty-five classes (goods in 1–34, services in 35–45) and conflicts are assessed within the class and for related goods. A mark that reads or sounds similar to an existing one invites objections or oppositions months later, after fees are spent. We run the search, show you the findings, and let you decide the mark with the facts in front of you.
Filing itself is where precision pays: the applicant name, the specification of goods or services, the class, and the mark's representation all shape how the Registry examines it. Rapidfiling prepares all of it, files, and keeps you updated at every registry action until the registration is granted.

Fees and timing
What influences the quote
- The applicant's category, individuals, startups, and small enterprises pay a reduced government fee
- Number of classes filed
- Whether the mark is already in use or proposed to be used
- Whether examination raises objections needing formal responses
Government fees and professional fees are shown separately in every quote. GST treatment is confirmed in the quote. Rapidfiling does not publish fixed prices for this service; request a quote to receive the fee breakdown for your case.

Important limitations
- The Registry examines, publishes, and grants marks, no filing service can guarantee registration
- Examination and opposition timelines are set by the Registry's docket
- Registration protects the mark as filed; a changed logo needs a fresh application
Frequently asked questions
How long does trademark registration take?
The path runs filing → examination → possible objection response → journal publication → opposition window → registration. Timelines move with the Registry's docket, which no applicant controls. We report each step as it happens rather than promising a date.
What does the ® symbol require?
The ® symbol may be used only after registration is granted. Before that, a filed application can use ™ to indicate a claim. Using ® before registration is an offence under the Act.
Can I file for a logo and a name together?
A combined device application can cover both, or separate applications can be filed for the word and the logo, the latter gives flexibility but doubles the fee. We lay out both options with costs before filing.
What happens if the examiner objects?
An examination report is issued with the objection stated, and a written response is due within the prescribed window, often followed by a hearing. In-scope responses are part of our tracking; complex objections are quoted separately with clear reasoning.
