Service overview

The Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act requires establishments with twenty or more employees to register with EPFO and deduct provident fund contributions from covered wages. Establishments below twenty can register voluntarily, and certain classes of establishments are covered regardless of size, the details differ enough that checking your case first is worth doing.

Registration issues a code number for the establishment. From there a monthly rhythm begins: employee enrollments with Universal Account Numbers, contribution deductions, payment within the statutory deadline each month, and periodic returns. Employee details, wages, and exclusions (certain categories and wage ceilings) need to be handled correctly from the first month, because back-corrections attract damages and interest.

Rapidfiling prepares and files the registration, sets up the first enrolment batch correctly, and hands over a monthly compliance calendar your payroll can follow.

Share the employee count, wage structure, and entity type through the form.

  2. 2. Coverage check

We confirm whether PF coverage applies now, on crossing a count, or voluntarily, and explain the wage-ceiling exclusions.

  3. 3. Registration filing

The application with establishment documents and DSC is filed on the EPFO portal for the code number.

  4. 4. First cycle and handover

We set up the first enrollment batch and hand over the monthly calendar, dues, returns, and records to maintain.

Fees and timing

What influences the quote

  • Number of employees to enrol in the first cycle
  • Whether registration is statutory or voluntary
  • Whether past-period regularisation is in scope

Government fees and professional fees are shown separately in every quote. GST treatment is confirmed in the quote. Rapidfiling does not publish fixed prices for this service; request a quote to receive the fee breakdown for your case.

Frequently asked questions

At what employee count is PF registration mandatory?

The common trigger is twenty or more employees, with some classes covered even below that and voluntary registration possible anytime. We check your establishment against the current rules before filing.

What is the wage ceiling for coverage?

Employees drawing wages above the notified ceiling have specific treatment under the Act, with options depending on the establishment's choice and history. The position is applied to your payroll during setup so deductions start correctly.

What happens if we miss the monthly deadline?

EPFO levies damages and interest on late contributions, which escalate with delay. The calendar we hand over marks the due date each month; payroll teams should treat it as fixed.

Do contractors' workers count toward the threshold?

It depends on the nature of the engagement and control over the work, contractor labour can count for coverage. Share your contractor structure during scoping and we will give you the position in writing.
